My eldest daughter and I went to her four year checkup at the pediatrician’s office this morning. Assuming she was due for vaccines, I made the conscious decision to help start her day off on the right foot. It is amazing how much influence we, as parents, have over how our kids and this morning was a perfect example of that.
Unlike many days in which my daughter calls out to one of us to come get her from bed, she sprung out of bed and zoomed into the living room where her little sister and I were playing sleepily. I excitedly said, “Good morning, my Darling!” and stretched out my arms to embrace her. From that moment forward, all the words I said to her were encouraging, loving, and helpful. I showed gratitude for her helping me with dressing her sister and feeding the kitties.
On our drive to the doctor’s office, we made a declaration: today and every Monday from here on out should be Magnificent Monday. When we start our Monday morning, rather than saying, “Ugh, not again,” we will say, “Hooray! It’s going to be a magnificent day!” When you wake up in the morning with a positive start and assist your family (and coworkers) get into that frame of mind too, you will begin to see (mostly) positive things happening. You will notice the good around you and begin to ignore the unsettling, annoying, or even dull things that happen. When I start out my days with renewal, my pain feels less intense and I am grateful for my abilities.
So from here on out, remember this, a four year old declared the following titles for each day:
Have an absolutely amazing week ahead, everyone! XOXO
